- Ava Darling is new to performance art and is quickly learning to add it to her existing passions and accomplishments of writing, imaging and clay handbuilding. Ava is delighted and thankful to be working with musicians of Garrick's and Stuart's calibre (both musically and interpretively)and looks forward to seeing where the combined creative abilities of "The Open Sesames" takes them. It's a trip! Garrick Tyas, A.K.A. "The Fiddleguy", plays the fiddle and the mandolin as well as being a prolific composer. He has performed in numerous bands and also has considerable experience in theatre, TV and film. Stuart Mitchell, of strong Scottish heritage, began drumming at 8 years young. Since then he has played many percussive instruments but his mainstay is the drumset. After obtaining his music degree Stuart has recorded, played and toured for many acts - large and small - and always manages to maintain a low profile. ReplyDeleteHaving just returned from a wonderful,joyfilled sejour in the heart of Texas visiting my kids I feel rejuvenated and eager to keep that wonderful feeling of happiness within me. During my time in Fort Worth I was privy to be able to be invited to watch a private rehearsal of "Romeo and Juliet" produced and directed by Ben Stevenson. That performance made me totally euphoric and light headed, so to speak, inasmuch as I truly enjoyed the entire production. Now I am back in the County and started to go about my daily chores and other things on my mind. So, yesterday, I thought of visiting The Fiddleguy' Place down on Front Street in Belleville, where I found Garrick and Stu laboriously rehearsing a new musical piece downstairs in the sub-terranean music room. I thoroughly enjoyed Stu's drumming artistry and my mind wandered above the clouds. It was at that time I realized that I did not have my camera with me,something very unusual as it has become part of my wardrobe, so to speak. So, this morning, having little to do at home, I ventured back to the studio and this time totally clicked away while the music was playing and Stu was drumming! Awesome stuff!!.I'll be studying the results of my photography soon, meantime I have been asked by Garrick to,once again, come up with a CD cover design, so l'll be working on that first. I felt good to see The Fiddleguy's studio after a few weeks away. Lots of new ideas in the making! Way to go Garrick! My artwork is also on display at the Fiddleguy' Place and quite a few people have left some good comments.
