Well, it was quite a St. Patrick's Day for The Open Sesames. We performed 3 pieces from our debut CD, romantica, in front of a small but discerning group of listeners and we passed with flying colours. (PS: I now know I can perform while a journalist wields a camera in, and around, my performance space. This is a good thing!)
Before all this, however, Stuart and Garrick performed as "the frenetic" and the joy, passion and down-right grooviness of these two playing together caused me to realize - yet again - how fortunate I am (as a novice performer) to be working with these two well-seasoned veterans. With this realization came the understanding that when my turn came to stand up and perform "The Four Queens", "Ode To Craig Kennedy" and "The Web of Attraction I needed to give my all for my own sense of accomplishment and, equally, to prove myself worthy of the trust my fellow Sesames have placed in me.
And, my greatest reward came at the end of the evening when both Garrick and Stuart looked me straight in the eyes, with a big smile on each of their faces, and said, "Well, done." At the end of the day this meant the most to me.
So ..... stay tuned! Lots more to come from The Open Sesames as we work to open things up even further during our new, regular performance schedule: Sunday evenings from from 7 - 10 commencing this Sunday, the 21st.
A new spring thing for Belleville and for The Fiddleguy's Place at 318 Front Street.
